Fake Liquids with Simulation Nodes in Blender 3.6Jul 08, 2023
It's been a few years since Half Life Alyx came out (currently 60% off on Steam) but at the time I remember every tech artist I know trying to make their own version of the fake liquid in the bottles. It's all shader based and there's no internal geometry so it's such a mind bender putting it together.
We still have some limitations with Blender's shader workflow as we don't have total control of the normals when using BSDF nodes but overall, we can still get some sense of the same effect (and it's just a fun primer to the new simulation loops!)
